Bruno Henrique Coutinho de Aguiar

Lawyer

Bruno Aguiar is a lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in the tax field. His professional trajectory is closely connected to the history of the firm, where he began as an intern at RFAA. He has worked as a secondee lawyer at major companies, which broadened his understanding of the day-to-day business challenges and enabled him to provide even more precise legal counsel to companies. His practice encompasses both tax litigation and tax advisory matters, with a focus on direct and indirect taxes, particularly in the banking, fintech, pharmaceutical, automotive, and technology sectors.

He is a professor of Tax Planning at Sindusfarma and FIA-USP, and is also the author of several articles on tax-related matters.

Experience

Bruno has extensive experience in developing strategic tax planning structures for companies. He has led significant judicial proceedings, including cases involving the suspension of the enforceability of the ICMS rate differential (Difal) charged by certain Brazilian states on the shipment of goods to individuals and legal entities not registered as ICMS taxpayers. He has also led important disputes regarding the reimbursement of ICMS-ST, a matter that has yet to be regulated. His expertise in international trade is noteworthy, particularly in relation to the tax classification of goods and taxes related to imports.

As a tax specialist, Bruno represented the pharmaceutical and R&D sectors, providing support to the Brazilian government and members of Congress during the discussions and regulation process related to the Constitutional Amendment and the Consumption Tax Reform.
